【摘要】:Thisspecificationestablishesminimumperformancerequirementsfortheimpactattenuationofplaygroundsurfacingmaterialsinstalledwithintheusezoneofplaygroundequipment.Thisspecificationisspecifictosurfacingusedinconjunctionwithplaygroundequipment,suchasthatdescribedinSpecificationsF1148,F1487,F1918,F1951,andF2075.Thisspecificationestablishesanimpactattenuationperformancecriterionforplaygroundsurfacingmaterials;expressedasacriticalfallheight.Thisspecificationestablishesproceduresfordeterminingthecriticalfallheightofplaygroundsurfacingmaterialsunderlaboratoryconditions.Thelaboratorytestismandatoryforsurfacestoconformtotherequirementsofthisspecification.Thelaboratorytestrequiredbythisspecificationaddressestheperformanceofdrysurfacingmaterials.Thecriticalfallheightofaplaygroundsurfacingmaterialdeterminedunderlaboratoryconditionsdoesnotaccountforimportantfactorsthatmayinfluencetheactualperformanceofinstalledsurfacingmaterials.Factorsthatareknowntoaffectsurfacingmaterialperformanceincludebutarenotlimitedtoaging,moisture,maintenance,exposuretotemperatureextremes(forexample,freezing),exposuretoultravioletlight,contaminationwithothermaterials,compaction,lossofthickness,shrinkage,submersioninwater,andsoforth.Thisspecificationalsoestablishesaprocedurefortestinginstalledplaygroundsurfacesinordertodeterminewhetheraninstalledplaygroundsurfacemeetsthespecifiedperformancecriterion.Theresultsofafieldtestdetermineconformanceofinstalledplaygroundsurfacingmaterialswiththecriterionofthisspecificationandarespecifictotheambientconditionsunderwhichthetestwasperformed.Theimpactattenuationspecificationandtestmethodsestablishedinthisspecificationarespecifictotheriskofheadinjury.Thereisonlylimitedevidencethatconformancewiththerequirementsofthisspecificationreducestheriskofotherkindsofseriousinjury(forexample,longbonefractures).Note1-Therelativeriskoffatalityandofdifferentdegreesofheadinjurymaybeestimatedusingtheinformationin,whichshowstherelationshipsbetweentheHeadInjuryCriterion(HIC)scoresofanimpactandtheprobabilityofheadinjury.Thisspecificationrelatesonlytotheimpactattenuationpropertiesofplaygroundsurfacingmaterialsanddoesnotaddressotherfactorsthatcontributetofall-relatedinjuries.Whileitisbelievedthatconformancewiththerequirementsofthisspecificationwillreducetheriskofseriousinjuryanddeathfromfalls,adherencetothisspecificationwillnotpreventallinjuriesanddeaths.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.TheSIunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatoryrequirementspriortouse.
