【摘要】:Variousmetalsaredepositedonaluminumalloystoobtainadecorativeorengineeringfinish.Theelectroplatesappliedareusuallychromium,nickel,copper,brass,silver,tin,lead,cadmium,zinc,gold,andcombinationsofthese.Silver,tin,orgoldisappliedtoelectricalequipmenttodecreasecontactresistanceortoimprovesurfaceconductivity;brass,copper,nickel,ortinforassemblybysoftsoldering;chromiumtoreducefrictionandobtainincreasedresistancetowear;zincforthreadedpartswhereorganiclubricantsarenotpermissible;tinorleadisfrequentlyemployedtoreducefrictiononbearingsurfaces.Nickelpluschromiumorcopperplusnickelpluschromiumisusedindecorativeapplications.Nickelplusbrasspluslacquerorcopperplusnickelplusbrasspluslacquerisalsousedfordecorativefinishes,sometimeswiththebrassoxidizedandrelievedinvariousways.Electrolessnickelmaybeappliedasabarrierlayerpriortootherdeposits,orforengineeringpurposes.ThepreparationofaluminumandaluminumalloymandrelsforelectroformingisdescribedinPractice.1.1Thisguidecoverscleaningandconditioningtreatmentsusedbeforemetaldeposition(Section5),andimmersiondeposit/strikeprocedures(Section6)thatenhancetheadhesionofmetalsthataresubsequentlyappliedtoaluminumproductsbyelectrodepositionorbyautocatalyticchemicalreduction.1.2Thefollowingimmersiondeposit/strikeproceduresarecovered:1.2.1Zincimmersionwithoptionalcopperstrike(6.3).1.2.2Zincimmersionwithneutralnickelstrike(6.4).1.2.3Zincimmersionwithacetate-buffered,nickelglycolatestrike(6.5).1.2.4Zincimmersionwithacidoralkalineelectrolessnickelstrike.1.2.5Tinimmersionwithbronzestrike(6.6).1.3Fromtheprocessingpointofview,theseproceduresareexpectedtogivedepositsonaluminumalloysthatareapproximatelyequivalentwithrespecttoadherence.Corrosionperformanceisaffectedbymanyfactors,however,includingtheprocedureusedtopreparethealuminumalloyforelectroplating.1.4Thisguideisintendedtoaidelectroplatersinpreparingaluminumanditsalloysforelectroplating.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ForspecificprecautionarystatementsseeSection7andAppendixX1.
