【摘要】:Itisnormalforsomeofthecombustionproductsofaninternalcombustionenginetopenetrateintotheenginelubricantandberetainedinit.Whenanengineisrunforaperiodoftimeandthenstoredoveralongperiodoftime,theby-productsofcombustionmayberetainedintheoilinaliquefiedstate.Underthesecircumstances,precipitatescanformthatimpairthefilterabilityoftheoilthenexttimetheengineisrun.Thistestmethodsubjectsthetestoilandthenewoiltothesametreatmentssuchthatthelossoffilterabilitycanbedetermined.Referenceoils,onwhichthedataobtainedbythistestmethodisknown,areavailable.Thistestmethodrequiresthatareferenceoilalsobetestedandresultsreported.Twooilsareavailable,oneknowntogivealowandoneknowntogiveahighdatavalueforthistestmethod.Note18212;Whenthenewoiltestresultsaretobeofferedascandidateoiltestresultsforaspecification,suchasSpecificationD4485,thespecificationwillstatemaximumallowablelossoffilterability(flowreduction)ofthetestoilascomparedtothenewoil.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthetendencyofanoiltoformaprecipitatethatcanpluganoilfilter.Itsimulatesaproblemthatmaybeencounteredinanewenginerunforashortperiodoftime,followedbyalongperiodofstoragewithsomewaterintheoil.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
